Topic:   Calculating Time to build an Assembly

By: Guest PhilPosted on: Nov 30 2021 at 04:20:39 AM
I have created components and assigned suppliers with leadtimes. I can demonstrate via the shortage reports, how these leadtimes are taken into account to provide the "Order Before" date. Thats great.

How do I achieve the same from an Assembly point of view. When creating a WO for an assembly I have the ability to manually enter my "Build/Start Date". Can the system automatically calculate the "Build/Start Date" based on the "Completion Date" and a leadtime associated with the WO?

i.e. "Build/Start Date" = "Completion Date" - "Assembly Build Leadtime"

If so, how?

You can't.

That kind of function is what you would expect the system to do.

But i am sure the answer will be, "It's To Much for MiniMRP".

We can't even get that "Build/Start" - "Completion Date" information printed onto reports!

@"Guest Phil"

The way you can enter "Start" and "Completion" dates in to a work order is very (VERY) new. It wasn't there in any previous version. It's so new that we're still feeling our way with it and listening to feedback to see what direction we'll take it going forward. (So thank your for your suggestion)

To summarise on what we've got so far:-

The "Start" date is what should be used in shortage reports where components to be consumed by that work order need to be purchased before the Work Order's Start date.

The "Completion" date would be used if the Work Order was for a sub assembly that was to be used in some other higher level work order.

I assume you're talking about the shortage report showing something in that "Buy Before" column to say "Build Before" for Sub assemblies that have a long build process?

I need to get my head round this idea. As other "Guest" said. It may be too much for a "Mini" mrp. But we'll consider it.

To the "Guest" asking for the dates to be printed in reports. I don't recall this. Maybe it was discussed on the forum but please email so we can discuss this in more detail and maybe get it fixed.

This was just a case of wanting the Build/Start Date & Completion Date, to be shown on the works order report. This is the report that you would print perhaps as a picking list - it already has variuous other WO information, but misses this.

Thanks
