Topic:   Drawing archive?

By: GuestPosted on: Sep 25 2020 at 06:54:59 AM
Hi, does minimrp support drawings (pdf) or other docs as a drawing archive as well or is it solely for part numbers/boms?
If it support drawings as well, is it possible to have multiple parts (typically similar variants of one part) referring to one single drawing?
Thanks - Niels

Go to "All Components" in the menu bar on the left of the program window.

Double click an item. This opens the 'detail' window for that item. Across the middle of the window is a row of Tabs. One of them is "Links".

In the Link tab you can create links to external documents, PDFs, Docs, drawing and even remote webpages such as a manufacturer/supplier's product specification sheet.

When you then go back to the "All Components" list you'll see a new column with a clickable icon. Click that to bring up the linked document.
In the BOM window you can also get that clickable column

I map a drive few drives on my PC one for drawings one for datasheets, my drawing number is the same as the database number plus the revision, I also save the datasheets with the database number.
Then when I need to copy the data to my laptop is any easy job and the links all still work.

Hi, and sorry for the late reply. Thanks for the support and suggestion. However as I understood it theres no functionality in the software which support making revisions and keeping track of which is the newest and approved revision of a drawing. Manufacturing drawings will need to be handled fully manually by making links to a drawing file somewhere on the harddrive. Is that correct? Thanks - Niels

Hi

I had this written for me in a high end MRP system (£50k) I could create an order and it would attach a Data pack of all the latest drawings required at the correct revision, very nice but beyond MiniMrp I think.

Hello Steve. Yes. Such engineering/revision/drawing control is beyond the scope of a 'Mini' MRP.
