I have seen several posts here about viewing the data in tables using Excel. How can i do this? (I am not an IT expert)

Minimrp doesn't keep data in tables in a nice orderly fashion. A single transaction such as receiving a PO is updated into 4 or more different tables non of which actually contain the part number to which the transaction refers. The reason I say that is you say you're not an IT expert. You don't need to be an expert but you'd need some knowledge of databases or the data in excel probably won't make sense.

In excel there's a menu option titled "Get External Data". Use that to navigate to the minimrp file named "mrp5data". I can't be more precise than that because different versions of excel have the menu options in different places and different ways of doing it.

Maybe say what data you want and somebody might have an easier way to get at it

I use many different exports, stock, PO's etc. into Excel. It's just something i was interested in generally.

When i use "Get Data", what type am i looking for? "File" or "Database", i have tried a couple but can't anything to open.

"Get External Data".

Different versions of excel do it in different ways but I imagine it would be "Database". This might offer different database types types. For example Microsoft MDB. There might be a file type option which shows the file name extension it's looking for. If you open that you should see *.* Any File. If you select that you should eble to see the mrp5data file.

Or maybe make a copy of mrp5data and rename it to mrp5data.mdb then it can be opened in MS Access. Or Excel Get External data might see the file easier if it has an MDB extension.

MiniMRP doesn't use or need MS Access but the file types are compatible.
